Surgery Day

Schedule of LASIK Surgery Day Events

Surgery day at Spivack Western Slope LASIK Center is the first day of the rest of your life! We strive to make you feel comfortable and at ease through you whole procedure. We treat every patient as an individual, and will cater your experience to your needs. Your life changing day begins by….

  1. Arrive at our beautiful facility 1 hour prior to your procedure. We'll complete some final testing and get paperwork out of the way. If necessary, we'll give your some relaxation medication to help calm your anxieties.
  2. You'll enter our pre-op suite and relax in a comfortable La-Z-Boy® chair. We'll have snacks for you to enjoy while you are resting.
  3. We'll give you eye drops to prepare your eyes for LASIK.
  4. You'll enter our laser suite. We'll have you recline on a special chair and provide you a warm blanket so you are as comfortable as possible.
  5. Dr. Spivack will talk you through every step in the procedure as he performs them. He'll use two lasers during the procedure. You'll remain in the laser suite for about 20 minutes, although the actual surgery only takes a few minutes per eye.
  6. You will focus your attention on a small light during the procedure. You may feel a slight pressure, but there won’t be any pain. Don't worry about involuntary eye movements or blinking; Dr. Spivack's advanced eye tracking technology detects even the slightest eye movements so there’s no need to fret about messing up the procedure.
  7. Immediately after the procedure, most patients are able to read our wall clock! Your vision may be a bit blurry for a few hours while the cornea re-hydrates and the eye drops wear off.
  8. You’ll return to the pre-op suite for Dr. Spivack to make one final check on your vision. We'll place a clear plastic eye shield over the eye(s) for you to wear for the remainder of the day.
  9. You'll return home (have someone else drive you) where you should nap for a few hours to encourage the healing process.
  10. You'll use eye drops and the eye shields while sleeping for several days.
  11. The day following your procedure, you'll return to your optometrist for a post-op visit to make sure everything is healing properly. You may even be able to return to work the day after your procedure.

Just like that your procedure is done and you are onto a future with clear vision. If you have any issue after your surgery, please let us know immediately.
